Toshiyuki Kita
The Wink Lounge by Cassina, designed in 1980 by Toshiyuki Kita, marries ergonomic design with unparalleled flexibility. It ingeniously transitions from a lounge chair into a chaise longue with adjustable backs and flip headrests for various seating positions. In Kita's words, "sitting on Wink means sitting on the floor and, when you are seated there, according to oriental tradition, your spirit rises."
Since 1969, Toshiyuki Kita has become renowned for his best-selling products worldwide, with works in prestigious collections like MoMA and Centre Georges Pompidou. He actively promotes Japanese traditional crafts and is the director of the “Living & Design” fair and the “Renovetta” lifestyle renovation project. A professor at The Osaka University of Arts, Kita's influence spans education and practice. Honored internationally, including receiving Italy's “Commendatore” title in 2017 and the “Intellectual Property Achievement Awards” from Japan in 2018, his publications and awards underscore his impactful career in design and commitment to cultural preservation.
